Privacy Policy
PostNiti records your work as a time-lapse. The footage that comes out of that is yours, it stays on your phone, and this page sets out exactly what does and does not leave the device.

Your frames and videos never leave your device
The frames captured during a recording, and the time-lapse videos rendered from them, are written to your device's own storage. They are never uploaded to PostNiti, never sent to a third party, and nobody at PostNiti can see them. Exporting a video writes it to your photo library, which is also on your device.
What we store on our servers
PostNiti keeps a small amount of information on its servers so your activities and your history survive a reinstall and can follow you to another device.
Account details
If you sign up, we store your email address and your display name. Signing in is done with email, with Google, or with Apple.
Guest accounts
You can use PostNiti with no sign-up at all. In that case a guest account is provisioned from a secret held on your device, and there is no email address or name behind it.
Activities
The activities you create: the activity name, and the unit of progress if you set one.
Session metadata
For each recording session we store the start time, the end time, the number of frames captured, the capture interval, the number of units you completed, and which activity the session belongs to. The images themselves are never part of this.
Third-party services
Firebase (Google)
Firebase handles authentication for Google and Apple sign-in, and delivers push notifications. A push notification token is sent to PostNiti's server so we can reach your device with a notification you asked for.
PostHog
PostHog provides optional product analytics. When analytics are enabled, it records in-app events: onboarding completed, a recording started or completed, an export, paywall interactions, and which sign-in method you used. Those events are identified by your backend user id together with your email, name, and plan. Automatic error reporting is enabled, so crashes and errors are reported to PostHog as well.
PostHog also counts page views on this website, but only if you allow it. Nothing is loaded, sent or stored until you choose "Allow" on the banner, and choosing "No thanks" keeps it that way. You can change your mind at any time with the "Analytics choice" link in the footer of any page. Website page views are not linked to any account, and visiting this site does not create a profile of you.
Device permissions we ask for
- Camera — to capture the frames that make up your time-lapse.
- Photo library (add only) — to save exported time-lapse videos to your photo library. PostNiti can add videos; it cannot read what is already there.
- Notifications — optional, for reminders.
Purchases
Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. PostNiti never sees or stores your payment details or card numbers.
Where your data is stored
The information described above is held on servers operated via Heroku and AWS in the United States.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from Settings in the app, or by emailing us at [email protected] from the address on the account.
Deleting your account removes your account details, your activities, and all of your session metadata from our servers. Your frames and rendered videos are unaffected by this, because they were never on our servers in the first place: they stay on your device and in your photo library until you delete them yourself.
Children's privacy
PostNiti is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us at [email protected] and we will delete the account and its data.
Changes to this policy
If our data practices change, we will update this page and change the date at the top of it. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
